Home entertainment videos can be quite an investment. At $20 a pop, even 10 discs can be quite a bit of money, especially in a struggling economy. Also, many people prefer to watch favorite movies over and over again, even to the point of almost memorizing the dialogue. So, when a motion picture starts to skip or get stuck, it can be really discouraging. Plus, as time goes by, a replacement can be hard to find. So, it can be cost effective and a positive move to learn how to create backup copy of a DVD.

However, to copy protection software can be a problem. Although the purpose is understandable, it makes it difficult for honest people who just want to have a duplicate in case something goes wrong with the original video. What a shame that unscrupulous folks who want to make a profit off of someone else’s efforts have made it a problem for the rest of society. Nonetheless, that is the case.

So, the first step is to download cracking software. The object is to crack the copy protection codes, so the DVD data can be transferred to the computer’s hard drive. Once that is out of the way, it is important to have enough room on the hard drive.

The hard drive must have plenty of space, because the data from the original DVD will expand when it is copied. In fact, it may take up to 5 times the room as the space provided on the disc. The data has been shrunk to fit on one disc instead of 4 or 5. It works on the same principle as compressing a file folder to take up less room on the computer.

Once the data is on the hard drive, you have accomplished the most difficult part of learning how to create backup copy of a DVD. Now, remove all the extra files that have nothing to do with the video, so the next copy will be easy and not take up so much space. Then, download some shrink software and get the data back down to size. Finally, transfer the files to a blank DVD and you are ready to enjoy for many playbacks to come.
